Meet Our Team

As Executive Director of Far + Wise, Sam Herrick brings over 20 years of experience in education to his leadership role, guiding the organization’s vision, operations, and growth. His career has spanned the classroom and the front office—serving as a 5th grade ecology teacher, dean of students, and school principal—giving him a deep and practical understanding of what young people and educators need to thrive.

Sam's leadership is grounded in his belief in the potential of every child. He is continually inspired by students who lean into challenges and push through to new levels of success. At Far + Wise, he draws on this philosophy to build programming that supports personal growth, community connection, and long-term impact.

Sam was a founding board member of the East Bay School for Boys and is a current board member of the Sun Valley Youth Hockey Association. He holds a Master’s degree in School Leadership from Columbia University and remains dedicated to nurturing environments where young people can discover their strengths and grow with confidence.
