with Sun Valley aviators
You see aircraft taking off and landing at Friedman Memorial Airport every day.
Maybe you’ve travelled on a commercial airline. But have you ever thought about all the people involved in making those takeoffs and landings possible?
Explore the science of flight:
Learn about aircraft, aerodynamics, engines, and what makes an airplane fly.
Airport operations: See how airport staff, airlines, ground crews, TSA, and others work together at the airport
General aviation: Check out a private jet, practice aircraft marshalling, and learn how airplanes are serviced on the ground.
Air traffic control: Visit the control tower, practice the communication used between pilots & air traffic controllers.
Helicopter operations: Take an up close look at helicopters and learn how LifeFlight and other operators use them in the Wood River Valley.
Careers in aviation: Explore career pathways, training and certifications, and what it takes to become part of the aviation community.
Students who complete all six sessions may have the opportunity to take a Discovery Flight with Sun Valley Aviators, depending on weather and aircraft availability.
Whether you already dream about a career in aviation or are simply curious about what happens beyond the terminal, this is your chance to learn about this exciting career track.
